“Especially, one of the most significant crucial issues is hope because hope is q uality, an emotion, a vehicle which circulates between the past, it concerns with the present, but at the same time it goes towards the future. So there’s a process of becoming not a fixed but an open structure. Something that is rather unconscious but becomes conscious, it’s not yet, hasn’t arrived yet- was in the center of my attention.

And as a bridge between the radical regionalism, the attempt to think the region critically and the hope as the means and the emotion- the bridge was constructed by two aspects, two elements, namely the vernacular, the identity itself, the native, the national and the notion of belonging, so really something, what is my own, or how does my own gestallt construction has been made and shaped. And hope is very much a guideline or a shape which conditions our lives or the lives of human being.”

from the Manifesta 7 interview
